Qualidade essa que n\u00e3o se reflete apenas nos atributos sensoriais do produto, mas tamb\u00e9m nas suas propriedades nutricionais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O consumo de azeite, particularmente o virgem-extra, enquadrado numa dieta mediterr\u00e2nica \u2013 regime alimentar caracter\u00edstico dos territ\u00f3rios banhados pelo Mar Mediterr\u00e2neo, nos quais a cultura da oliveira \u00e9 predominante &#8211; traduz-se em in\u00fameros benef\u00edcios para a sa\u00fade humana, como tem vindo a ser comprovado pela evid\u00eancia cient\u00edfica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O interesse cient\u00edfico pelos efeitos ben\u00e9ficos da alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o mediterr\u00e2nica sobre a sa\u00fade, remonta aos anos 50 do s\u00e9culo passado, onde investigadores relacionaram pela primeira v\u00eas a alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o tradicional, de regi\u00f5es sul da Gr\u00e9cia e de It\u00e1lia, a uma elevada esperan\u00e7a m\u00e9dia de vida, e baixas taxas de doen\u00e7as cr\u00f3nicas nas respetivas popula\u00e7\u00f5es. Esta premissa viria a ser aprofundada nos anos seguintes, tendo os seus resultados confirmado a referida rela\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Assim, nos anos 90 o regime tradicional observado nos pa\u00edses da Bacia Mediterr\u00e2nica foi escolhido como o mais favor\u00e1vel \u00e0 sa\u00fade, vindo a ser oficialmente reconhecido pela Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial de Sa\u00fade em 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A dieta mediterr\u00e2nica caracteriza-se por um consumo abundante de frutas, legumes frescos, cereais e leguminosas, por ter o azeite como principal fonte de gordura, por um consumo moderado de produtos animais e de produtos l\u00e1cteos, e por um consumo moderado de vinho \u00e0s refei\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visando refor\u00e7ar os benef\u00edcios de uma dieta mediterr\u00e2nica, tendo o azeite como principal fonte de gordura, para a sa\u00fade, longevidade e qualidade de vida, o Programa de Sustentabilidade do Azeite do Alentejo reuniu evid\u00eancia cient\u00edfica produzida entre 2013 e 2019 que confirma esta associa\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Os estudos referidos comprovam benef\u00edcios ao n\u00edvel da preven\u00e7\u00e3o de doen\u00e7as cardiovasculares, cr\u00f3nicas ou oncol\u00f3gicas, e ainda no bem-estar emocional e na manuten\u00e7\u00e3o de uma boa sa\u00fade mental. O estudo afirma ainda, que em indiv\u00edduos j\u00e1 com a doen\u00e7a, uma dieta rica em azeite permite uma maior capacidade de controlo glic\u00e9mico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:10px\">Fonte: Schwingshackl, L., Lampousi, A.
